Lectures on Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics is an excellent text, because it is clearly written, easily readable, covers a lot of ground, and explains things intuitively.

After going through this book and looking at some other comparable titles, I have to come to the conclusion that this is an excellent text on the topic of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics. At 600 plus pages the book is quite long, but the sheer amount of material covered is simply astounding.

This book is well-organized and a good reference text. The book does not assume that the reader is familiar with the topic, but rather starts with the simplest solutions and builds from there. I felt the book is self-contained enough for readers who have not heard of the topic before to get a good idea of it.

There are a variety of well-designed problems that provide plenty of practice along with some that expand upon the original concepts, and the average difficulty generally seems about right for the target audience. The author goes to great lengths to make every concept clear to the reader.

This is a book for those who are interested in probability theory and want to gain a broader understanding of the subject matter. This book is well-organized and is one of the clearest and most readable books on the topic. This book is very full and is a very good resource on the topic.

Excellent, compact introduction to mathematical probability, distributions, and the algebra of random variables. Marco Taboga employs concise proofs and an enviable clarity to writing that surpasses many scientific authors on the topic.

If you need to learn probability for simulation, data science, etc., then start here.

About the Author
Linda Lacy holds a BSC degree from the University of Louisville and a MS degree from Western Kentucky University. She spent eight years' active duty in the Marine Corps as a Marine Corps Exchange Officer. She received an honorary retirement as a Major in the Reserves after 20 years of service. Linda returned to teaching college at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, N.C. until she retired to take care of her late husband, Major Joh J. Lacy and then, her mom and aunties. Her hobbies are riding horses in the mountains. Linda is the author of "We Are Marines" 1st, 2d,3rd, and now the 4th edition. She received the prestigious Julia E. Hamblet Award a few years ago at the National Museum of the Marine Corps for her historical contribution to the women Marine history.

About the Author
Thi Bui was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States as a child. She studied art and law and thought about becoming a civil rights lawyer, but became a public school teacher instead. Bui lives in Berkeley, California, with her son, her husband, and her mother. The Best We Could Do is her debut graphic novel.

Beautiful Book

Over the past few years, I've read a lot of books that were profound, evocative, and embedded themselves in me emotionally (most recently it was "Between the World and Me"). But this book actually made me cry, like ugly-cry. This book is beautifully illustrated (it recalls the style of "Blankets" by Craig Thompson), a bit sparse stylistically for its own effect. It touches on the darkest parts of what it means to survive, not just as an immigrant, but from our own trauma, experienced or passed down to the next generation. It speaks of redemptions, but carefully navigates that line of profundity without overwrought sentimentalism. I would lend this book to everyone if I wasn't afraid of never getting it back.

This tale is absolutely beautiful. The illustrations are hypnotic and ethereal. The narrative is compelling and harrowing; In places heart-rending. Yet ultimately uplifting. This is as great as visual storytelling gets. The best book I've read since Will Eisner's "Dropsie Avenue Chronicles".

Good read and has given me historical perspective of the 2 wars Vietnam has gone through before it's independence. Everything is drawn and it leaves a calming feeling that my parent's history as a refugee will not be forgotten. Loved it

In this inspirational guidebook for committed Christians, the author, the pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, writes that he has seen the power and comfort of prayer not only in the Bible but in his own life, as well as in the lives of his church members, many of whom were personally affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Cymbala assures that God wants to hear and answer people's prayers, and thus people should pray with "certainty" and with "confidence." He gives guidelines for making effective prayers, and suggests that only supplicants who abide by "God's spiritual laws" can expect to have their prayers answered. "An unforgiving spirit, bitterness, secret, sexual sins," he writes, "can stymie our praying." (This is the reason, he says, that he once refused to pray for a man in his Tabernacle-because he lived "in fornication" with his girlfriend.) Cymbala focuses largely on how to use prayer to become filled with joy and to cast away worries or fears, and he spends much of the book explaining how a life of faithful prayer can result in deep, lasting inner peace. Spiced with lively anecdotes-the heroin addict who found God; the disaffected young man who became a soapbox preacher-and punctuated with pullout quotations, Cymbala's impassioned message should bring encouragement to the Christian faithful.

About the Author

Jim Cymbala has served as pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle for more than forty years. He is the author of many bestselling books, including Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, The Church God Blesses, When God’s People Pray, Fresh Faith, and Spirit Rising. He lives in New York City with his wife, Carol, who directs the Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. The Cymbalas have three children and eight grandchildren.

AWESOME - Life Changing

Prayer, I've come to believe, is the key element is following through with the foundation of life which Matthew 6:33, Seek God First above all things. Prayer will always lead you to the throne of the Almighty, the throne of the universe. Through the Holy Spirit to Jesus our Savior and High Preist to God the Father, Jehovah. It will lead you to His Word and to life. Ask and ye SHALL recieve (Matt. 7:7). Prayer is key.

As I begin to not just know this but live it every day I begin to have a hunger to know how to pray and more about prayer. This book, Breakthrough Prayer along with PAPA Prayer and The Kneeling Christian were defineing books for my life and others that I've since given a copy of it to.

You will not regret reading this book. You will find answers here to some of your deepest questions and pointers to where you need to go and how to pray with waiting faith. This book will change your life.

Me and my brother went to Brooklyn Tabernacle when I visited him in NYC because we both had read Fresh Faith and Fresh Wind... and we both said the minute we walked through the door we could feel something was different, the presence of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Henry Cloud said it best, a good Bible church mixes the right amount of Grace, Truth and Time. This is one of the rare churches in my life as a missionary kid that I've seen such an example of this.

I beg everyone who truly seeks a life of meaning to read this book. It will inspire you. I also highly recommend all of his books as they've all touched my life in some way. I just got through listening to A Life God Blesses back in January after reading this book and it is awesome as well. May God richly bless you as you Seek ye shall find.
